Lucy has been in our family 3 months now! I can’t believe how fast the time has gone by. She has grown so much and seems to learn something new, or at least improve a skill every day. We think back to when she was first born and she was just so tiny, granted she’s still little, but she is definitely so much bigger!
She is still just the happiest baby. She has started laughing, which is so darn cute! We have yet to get that on camera though. She loves to listen to music and will “sing” when we sing to her. I have had to stop singing to her when I’m trying to get her to sleep because she just smiles and coos back to me. She is really good at grabbing things now, including my hair when I’m bending over playing with her, she thinks it’s so funny! Now that she has that skill though she can play with her toys.
Lucy loves her daddy. She gets excited when he comes home from work everyday. Kenny is the best dad and takes such good care of her. He is more than willing to change dirty diapers or run to Walmart for more diapers. I never realized how many diapers babies go through. I still wonder if Lucy goes through more than normal though, I swear I change her diaper once an hour, unless she’s sleeping. I guess she has a good digestive system or something.
Recently she has started liking to be propped up, whether we have her sit on our lap or on the boppy. I hope she knows she still has a few months before she’ll be able to sit up on her own. She has started lifting up her legs when she’s sitting, like in this picture, working those ab muscles! She is also getting pretty good at holding up her head. We’re excited for when we’ll be able to put her in her seat with us while we eat. We give her tons of attention, lucky first child, but because of that she doesn’t really like being left alone. So our meals are usually eaten in shifts or really fast. She doesn’t cry, but kind of whines the whole time we’re away from her. A couple of weeks ago I left her with some toys while I went and quickly showered. I came out to her crying, I felt so bad. So I’ll stick to showering while she naps for now.
Lucy loves her hands, and our hands. Actually she loves chewing on anything these days. It’s very easy entertainment for her, but sometimes she seems frustrated that she can’t fit her whole hand in her mouth. We’ve been keeping her inside as much as possible with all the nastiness going around, sicknesses and inversion. We have fun though. We play with her toys, sing, dance, and read. I love how I can read a whole book to her and she will just look at the pictures. I want her to always love reading!
She has the biggest and prettiest blue eyes. She is just as alert as ever. I think she may be getting a little better at naps. She usually takes a two hour nap in the morning and another two hour nap in the afternoon. She sleeps so good at night! She goes to bed around 7 and will sleep until about 4 in the morning and then from there usually wakes up at about 8. She still has her days that she doesn’t nap well, or just wants to stay up and play when we try to put her down. But for the most part, she’s great! I thank her every day for sleeping so good.
We caught a yawn at her photoshoot, I think this pic is so funny. We love Lucy so much, she is the sweetest baby in the world. I am so blessed that I get to be a stay at home mom, I was never cut out for the workforce, haha. It’s true that the worst day at home is better than the best day at work, at least for me. And I haven’t really had any bad days at home. Me and Kenny love being parents, it’s a big responsibility and we’re doing our best to help Lucy learn and grow. I’m glad we have Heavenly Father’s guidance to help us everyday.
