Start of Summer

Just a quick update with pictures about how our summer is going so far.  We started the summer off right by celebrating my birthday!  This is mine and Kenny’s last year of being in our 20’s, crazy how time flies!  We went to the zoo, it’s been a lot of fun having a pass this year and getting to go often.

Lucy’s favorite things are definitely the carousel and the train.  Preston really likes them too, he holds onto the carousel so good and cute.

Gotta love those big, blue eyes!

Lucy always has to play on the bike racks in front of the zoo, she calls them the train.  She also never just calls it “the zoo”, it’s always “the zoo with the fence”.  All good zoos should have fences.

Then we went out to dinner at Squatters.  They just have really yummy food.  Going out to eat is always an adventure with kids, and we always leave a big mess.

Kenny and Lucy made me a cake, chocolate is my favorite!  Gotta love all the pink sprinkles too.

One of the gifts I got was the pie face game. We have had a lot of fun playing it with everyone.  There’s nothing like the anticipation of getting hit with whipped cream.

Kenny’s grandpa passed away, we had a wonderful graveside service in Spanish Fork.  He was a WWII veteran so he had full military rites including a gun salute.  He was a great man and will definitely be missed.  We had the chance to go visit Kenny’s grandparents a year ago in California, and we are so glad that we did.  The great grand-kids entertained themselves at Chuck-A-Rama after the funeral with a movie.

For Memorial Day we went and visited the graves of some other Fernsten ancestors.  Preston and Lucy wouldn’t look at me, at least they looked at each other.

We’ve had a lot of fun being outside and playing with friends.  It’s so nice to have a backyard!  Preston loves the little kiddie pool!

We went to the South Jordan fair, Lucy was so excited about the rides.  The Scrambler was fun with Kenny, but the ride we went on was pretty scary.  She liked it once I had a good grip on her so she wasn’t moving all over the place. I was not a fan.

We got a new roof!  So add that with the new windows and our house is looking pretty good!  It’s been fun to make it our own.

Lucy and Preston always look so cute for church!  This was at the baby blessing for my cousin Robin’s new daughter Victoria.

Another shot of the zoo from another day, Lucy wanted to see whose arms were the same length of hers, not who she was the same height as.

We love Hokulia snow cones, but there isn’t one close to us right now, which is kind of a bummer, so we made the 15 minute drive to get one, so worth it!.

We always have so much fun at our friends’, the Huber’s, house.  Lucy loves their trampoline and they have a cute chalkboard in the backyard now too, which I definitely want to copy. I love all of  Lucy’s cute little friends and my fun mom friends.

It’s been a super fun summer so far, we love playing together as a family!

Tons of fun in the summer sun!! I was thinking that was a chalkboard on the fence… Cute!! And all dressed up in their Sunday best… Adorable!! The shaved ice reminds me of Hawaii, I think there is a place in Provo that makes them just like that!! I love these two grandchildren and their terrific parents!!
